1. How do I join Sinfis?

You join Sinfis by turning up to the rehearsal. There is no audition, and joining is free.

2. I couldn't participate in the first rehearsal. Can I still join?

Probably yes. This can be confirmed from the intendent, but usually you can join in the middle of the season.

3. Am I good enough to play in Sinfis?

Usually completing 3/3 -exam from a Finnish conservatory is good enough. However, we have players from vastly different backgrounds and skill levels. Come try out!

4. How often does Sinfis have a concert?

Sinfis has 1-2 concerts per semester. In addition to this we often play in smaller ensembles.

5. How often is the practice and what kind of a commitment is Sinfis?

The practice is in hall M103 every monday 17-20. You are expected to attend these. In addition, there are 1-2 practice weekends and naturally any concerts we are holding. These are to be attended, but it's no problem if you miss some practice. Any absences are to be notified to the curator.

6. What kind of music does Sinfis play?

It varies. Sinfis plays most often classical, but there is also musical, movie and lighter music.

7. Does the orchestra do anything else?

The main point is of course music, but in addition to that there is spending time together. There are sitsit, a nordic academic table party. After a concert we have an after party, and after rehearsals we also sometimes hang out. There is also the option to join the board and get to plan the semester and decide on matters concerning the orchestra.

8. How can I join/leave the mailing list of Sinfis?
